Overview

The PE programme offered in St Killian’s College follows what has been prescribed in the programmes of study of the Northern Ireland Curriculum for key stages three and four, thereby affording students the opportunities to extend their personal knowledge, understanding and performance in the following areas athletics, dance, gymnastics, games and health-related PE.

In addition to the above there are enrichment courses and an extra-curricular programme of sporting and leisure pursuits, which affords students the opportunity to participate in both individual and team sports, and compete in inter-school competitions.

The College, through the PE and extra-curricular sport programme, has forged strong links with schools in the maintained and controlled sectors, as well as further afield, providing students with a breadth of rich activity experiences. The successes and accompanying press interest in St Killian’s sports has contributed much to the reputation of the College, local and province-wide.

PE encompasses all aspects of the development of the student, – physical, social, emotional, intellectual, ethical, aesthetic and creative – and subsequently has a considerable and worthwhile contribution to make in fulfilling the overall aims and ideals of St Killian’s College.
